Denis Villeneuve Confirms Dune 3 & Also Hints Towards A Nuclear War Scenario Film!

Hollywood director Denis Villeneuve confirms Dune 3 with Legendary Pictures & hints on making a movie on Annie Jacobsen's best-selling non-fiction book, Nuclear War: A Scenario.

With Legendary Entertainment’s official approval of Dune 3, Hollywood director Denis Villeneuve will continue to work with them. According to entertainment news source Deadline, aside from Dune 3, the studio and the highly regarded filmmaker are also in discussions to develop a film adaptation of author Annie Jacobsen’s best-selling non-fiction book Nuclear War: A Scenario.

Villeneuve’s initial project will be Dune 3, a film adapted from novelist Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah. The two preceding films in the series, Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), were adapted from Herbert’s groundbreaking 1965 novel Dune, which tells the story of Paul Atreides, a nobleman whose family is drawn into a conflict over the hostile and lethal desert planet Arrakis.

Villeneuve has repeatedly stated that he would like to adapt Dune: Messiah, which was released in 1969, into a third installment that will wrap up the Dune tale. Finally, Legendary has acknowledged the project.

Following Dune 3, the Canadian director might begin work on the movie adaptation of Nuclear War: A Scenario, which Legendary optioned shortly after it was published in March of this year. Based on dozens of in-depth, recently conducted interviews with military and civilian experts who built the weapons, the book examines a terrifying, hypothetical scenario of what might occur in the event of a nuclear war.
