US House of Rep IMPEACH President Donald Trump for abuse of power & obstruction of congress

US House of Representatives has impeached President Donald Trump on both articles of impeachment: Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Justice.

December 18, 2019, is a day that will be recorded in history as the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump has been impeached by the US House of Representatives. The House of Representatives, after debating for almost 12 hours has charged Trump on Abuse of Power. On the first article, 230 representatives voted yes, to 197 no votes. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who is one of Trump’s 2020 opponents, voted “present.” On voting to approve the second article: Obstruction of Congress, 229 representatives voted yes, to 199 no votes. There was again one person voted “present” — presumably Gabbard.

Trump now happens to be the third president in United States history to happens to be impeached, following Andrew Johnson in 1868, and Bill Clinton in 1998. Now that the decision has been made, the proceeding has now moved to the Senate, who could possibly convict Trump and remove him from office. The hearing from the Senate will happen in January.

The talk of the impeachment started in 2018 after Trump’s years of misconduct, unhinged rants, and heinous behaviour was observed by the Oval Office. The Democrats who were in support of the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi charged ahead with the impeachment hearings after Trump was seen in a quid pro quo arrangement with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump asked the president to dig up dirt on Joe Biden, the former vice president and who also happens to be the strongest opponents in the 2020 election and also his son Hunter Biden, and in return promised the United States would give substantial aid to Ukraine.

Trump a day before the impeachment sent a six-page letter to Pelosi wherein he accused the Democrats of engaging in “open war” by going ahead with impeachment, likening it to a coup. His letter read, “By proceeding with your invalid impeachment, you are violating your oaths of office, you are breaking your allegiance to the Constitution, and you are declaring open war on American Democracy.” He, further in the letter stated, “You are the ones interfering in America’s elections. You are the ones subverting America’s Democracy. You are the ones Obstructing Justice. You are the ones bringing pain and suffering to our Republic for your own selfish, personal, political, and partisan gain.”

On the day of the impeachment, 18 hours before the House voted, he again went on a 23-tweet rant, including 19 retweets from supporters and quotes from Fox & Friends. One of his own tweets read, “Can you believe that I will be impeached today by the Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats, AND I DID NOTHING WRONG! A terrible Thing. Read the Transcripts. This should never happen to another President again. Say a PRAYER!”

Soon after the House voted, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham issued a statement that stated, it “one of the most shameful political episodes in the history of our nation.”
