Nayanthara Breaks Silence On ‘Annapoorani’ Controversy, Apologises On Instagram

Taking to her Instagram account, Nayanthara finally addressed the 'Annapoorani' controversy as she issued a public apology.

Jawan actress Nayanthara recently became the target of criticism after the release of her film, Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food. The film was widely criticized by the audience for allegedly hurting Hindi religious sentiments. Even an FIR was registered against the film for hurting Hindu sentiments, disrespecting Lord Ram, and promoting love jihad.

And days after the same, actress Nayanthara finally broke her silence on the matter. Taking to her Instagram account the actress finally addressed the controversy and issued a public apology.

Her apology read, “In our sincere attempt to share a positive message, we may have inadvertently caused hurt. We did not expect the removal of a censored film, previously showcased in theatres, from the OTT platform. My team and I never intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments and we understand that the gravity of this issue. Being someone who wholely believes in God and frequently visits temples accross the country, it is the last thing I would intentionally do. To those whose feelings we’ve touched, I extend my sincere and heartfelt apologies.”

She added, “The intention behind ‘Annapoorni’ was to uplift and inspire, not to cause distress Over the last two decades, my journey in the film industry has been guided with a singular intention – To spread positivity & foster learning from one another”.

For the unversed, the film, Annapoorni was targeted for hurting Hindu sentiments as the film was hugely criticized. And subsequently, the film was later removed from the OTT platform, Netflix.
