Bollywood Actress Amrita Singh’s Personal And Romantic Life

Amrita Singh is going to celebrate her 66th birthday on 9th February.

Amrita Singh was born on 9 February 1958into a military family. Her parents were Rukhsana Sultana and Shivinder Singh Virk. During the Indian Emergency in the 1970s, her mother was a close political ally of Sanjay Gandhi, who rose to prominence by spearheading the sterilization drive in Muslim areas of Old Delhi.

 Amrita Singh was One of the popular leading ladies in Bollywood during the 1980`s, her acting career extends over three decades, during which she has appeared in over fifty feature films. She debuted in Hindi cinema with the romantic drama Betaab in 1983 and subsequently rose to prominence courtesy of her performances in movies like Duniya (1984), Saaheb (1985), Mard (1985) and Aaina (1993). Of these, her performance in Aaina earned Amrita a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1994.

Amrita Singh and Sunny Deol were among the most popular couples in Bollywood in the 1980s. Sunny Deol made his Bollywood debut opposite Amrita Singh in the movie ‘Betaab’. Rumors were going around that Sunny and Amrita were having an affair. The actor was married at the time, and nobody knew about the relationship.

The couple made their relationship official with a photoshoot. After keeping their relationship a secret for a long time, Ravi got engaged to Amrita in 1986. But marriage was always a dream for them. According to an article in India Today, Shastri said, “I don’t want to be married to an actress. I am a chauvinist person. My home should be my first priority.” Amrita said, “At the moment I am too focused on my career to let go of it. But I am sure after a few years I will be able to be a full-time woman and mother.” Unfortunately, their romance didn’t last long. After a few years, Amrita broke breakup with Ravi. Ravi got married to Ritu in 1990, and Amrita got married to Saif Ali in 1991.

In January 1991, Singh tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan. Raised as a Sikh, Singh converted to Islam before the wedding, which was held in an Islamic ceremony. Khan is 12 years younger than Singh. He is the son of Mansoor Ali Khan of Pataudi, the 9th Nawab of Bhopal State, and the actress Sharmila Tagore. He is part of the royal house of the former state of Bhopal and the state of Pataudi. Despite the controversy, the couple stayed married. Singh gave up acting after marrying Khan. After 13 years of marriage, they divorced in 2004. They had a daughter named Sara Ali Khan on August 12, 1995, and a son named Ibrahim Ali Khan on March 5, 2001.
