Would like to play the role of police officer who killed Veerappan, says Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar has said that he is interested in playing the character of K Vijay Kumar, the officer credited with killing Veerappan, on the big screen

Akshay Kumar has expressed his desire to play K. Vijay Kumar, the officer credited with eliminating sandalwood smuggler Veerappan. After winning a National Award for his performance in ‘Rustom' in which he played the role of an Indian Naval officer, Akshay now wants to portray Indian Police Service on the big screen. Akshay was present on the occasion of the launch of a book, written by K Vijay Kumar narrating the incidents leading to Veerappan's death. The book titled ‘Veerappan - Chasing the Brigand' was released in Mumbai and media at the event asked Akshay some trivial questions.

The actor was asked which of the two roles he would like to play between Veerappan and Kumar, two which he replied, "Both Veerappan and Vijay Kumar's characters are really interesting but I would love to play the role of Vijay Kumar because the whole planning has been done by him and how brilliantly he executed the entire operation."Kumar was part of the task force that killed Veerappan. The book launch was attended by prominent bureaucrats and politicians.

Akshay was last seen in Jolly LLB2 which was a successful venture and grossed more than Rs 100 crore at the box office. The actor has a lot of projects lined up including ‘Toilet - Ek Prem Katha' and ‘2.0'. Toilet will clash with Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘The Ring' in August. Akshay will make his debut in Tamil with 2.0 which is set to be India's most expensive film with an estimated budget of Rs 400 crore.
