Priyanka Chopra: It was a conscious decision to do ‘Baywatch’

Priyanka Chopra said that she chose ‘Baywatch’ from a number of film offers because it has a wider appeal to its subject.

After coming to India from the US, Priyanka Chopra held a press conference to interact with the media. The actress opened up about various aspects of her career including her Hollywood debut ‘Baywatch’. The actress has been working on the ongoing TV series ‘Quantico’ which just completed its second season on the air. Talking about why she chose ‘Baywatch’ as the Hollywood debut, she said that the film has a wider appeal compared to the other projects offered to her. “It was a conscious decision to do a big tentpole movie. It was my first Hollywood movie. People didn’t know me very well. You can’t just arrive there and say, ‘Mujhe picture chahiye!’ People have to come to you,” she said.

She went on to say that she is a Baywatch fan, so it was another point in favor of choosing the film. Another reason was that she wanted her role to de different from what she was doing on TV, so the role offered her just that. The actress has taken the responsibility of representing the country at the international platform and has attended big shot ceremonies like the Oscars and the Golden Globes. The actress drew comparisons with actress Deepika Padukone after she made her Hollywood debut alongside Vin Diesel in the film ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’.

‘Baywatch’ features Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron alongside Priyanka Chopra. The actress plays the antagonist named ‘Victoria Leeds’ in the film which will release in theaters worldwide on May 19.
