Nothing can taint this moment for me, says Akshay Kumar on his National Award win

Actor Akshay Kumar has said that he has never felt more proud of himself and no amount of criticism can taint this moment for him.

Akshay Kumar received the first National Award of his career from President Pranab Mukherjee for his performance in the film ‘Rustom'. Despite many people raising objections about the actor's win when many better performances were there in the same year, Akshay has not cared much about the hoopla surrounding the issue. Talking about the honour after receiving the trophy at the ceremony, the actor described the feeling as ‘unreal'. "When one works day in and day out, as I do, something like this isn't just an honour, it's a moment in time where everything makes sense. I've never felt so light and so humbled at the same time," he said. He also said that receiving the award in front of his wife Twinkle Khanna and son Aarav was all the more special for him.

Various questions have been raised on the internet ever since the award was declared but actor did not pay much heed to any of them. Akshay feels proud of his achievement and said that nothing can taint the moment for him. Before heading out for the event, Akshay had shared a picture with his family on his social networking profile and described the day as ‘an important day in his life'.

Akshay will be seen next in the film ‘Toilet - Ek Prem Katha' which will release this year in the month of August'. The film raises awareness about the importance of cleanliness in everyday lives and is reportedly based on the Swachh Bharat Abhyaan launched by Modi government.
