On Sunday, Formation singer, Beyoncé was awarded at the 59th Grammy Awards as Queen Bey bagged multiple awards. But what really grabbed our attention was the powerful speech that she gave It was all about the importance of confronting “issues that make us uncomfortable.


Beyoncé’s album, Lemonade, which came out last year in April, was also nominated for Best Music Film and Album of the Year at this year’s award ceremony. She’s also up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rock Performance, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Rap/Sung Performance; she won Best Music Video for 2016’s “Formation” before the telecast began.
In addition to being honored at the event, Beyoncé — who recently announced she’s pregnant with twins — also performed Lemonade cuts “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles” earlier in the show. See the full list of winners here.
 “It’s important for me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty so they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror, first through their own families, as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the White House, and the Grammys, and see themselves, and have no doubt that they’re beautiful, intelligent, and capable,” Beyoncé said in her speech. “This is something I want for every child of every race, and I feel it’s vital that we learn from the past and recognize our tendencies to repeat our mistakes.”
