‘Bajirao Mastani’ surpasses IIFA 2016 nominations

Bollywood’s most prestigious IIFA awards will be commenced from the 23rd June to the 26th June in Madrid, Spain. From Bollywood’s sizzling performances and show casing India’s rich culture around the globe 17th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) will have everything. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is leading the nominations list of the IIFA with eight nods, including best picture and director. The historical drama’s lead stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been nominated in the best actress and actor category respectively, IIFA abounded. Deepika’s second nomination in the same category is for ‘Piku’. The Baywatch actress, Priyanka who played Kashibai in ‘Bajirao Mastani;, has bagged a nod in the supporting actress list alongside her co-star from the film., Tanvi Azmi. Priyanka Chopra has been also nominated in the best actress category for ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. Best story for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, best lyrics- Amitabh Bhattacharya for ‘Gerua’, Dilwale. Best playback singer-Arijit Singh, Playback singer female-Shreya Ghosal. ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is closely followed by superstar Salman Khan’s blockbuster “Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, which has earned seven nominations. Bhaijaan earned a nod in the best actor category for his role of a numskull, who embarks on a journey to take a mute six-year old to her home in Pakistan. The film also got nods in best picture, best director for Kabir Khan, best story for V Vijayendra Prasad and best music direction for Pritam. The IIFA Awards this year will be hosted by Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar on June 23 at IFEMA in Madrid.
