Sakhavu Review

Actor Nivin Pauly’s latest offering ‘Sakhavu’ which has been directed by National Award winning director Sidhartha Siva is a political drama. The film reminds the viewers about the virtue of leadership and also showcases the lost values of activism. Actor Nivin Pauly is seen in two different characters in the film and pulls off both of them convincingly. Playing the role of ‘Krishna Kumar’, Nivin acts as a general secretary of a student body who is hungry for power. The main characteristics of his life revolve around being pragmatic, ruthless and self-obsessed. He has his plans about climbing up the ladder sorted out. The other character that Nivin plays is that of ‘Sakhavu Krishna Bhaskar’ who is leader focused on getting rights for working class people. He, however, has no aspirations to get a powerful position in the political scenario.

The story takes a turn when Krishna goes to a hospital on directions from his party to donate blood to a patient. This is when he gets to know about the person to whom his blood is being given. As he learns more about the patient he realises that the person is a respected personality is loved unconditionally by people.

The film has a few comic scenes as well but the main focus remains on Nivin’s strong portrayal of the two characters.

The Verdict

Just like Nivin’s last few movies, ‘Sakhavu’ is worth the money and must be watched only for the actor’s powerful performances. The film is expected to do well at the box office considering Nivin’s track record. The actor has managed to play both the characters assigned to him convincingly and is the main highlight of an otherwise average film.
