Maragatha Naanayam Review

Maragatha Naanayam is director ARK Saravanan’s directorial debut and he has not confined himself with the formula of making Tamil commercial films. This can be inferred when the viewer is already an hour into the film. The film boasts of a talented star cast including Aadhi, Nikki Galrani, Ramadoss, Anandraj and Daniel Pope.

The film’s story revolves around a young man named Senguttuvan who has an aim to become a smuggler that will help him repay the loans on his name. HE finds himself in the middle of a dangerous deal according to which he has to find an artifact named ‘Maragatha Naanayam’ which will enable him to earn Rs 10 crore. There is another twist in the tale that the artifact is haunted by a ghost named ‘Irumporai’.

The film’s narration boasts of clarity as well as logic but the director has failed to create some fascinating characters on screen to level with an interesting story. The characters in the film don’t leave a mark and thus are mostly forgettable. One thing must be applauded that the film doesn’t follow the cliché rules of horror comedies in Tamil cinema and tries to make its own ground. The surprises, twists and comic elements in the film leave the audience hooked to the screen.
