Professor Marston And The Wonder Women Review

As of now, Wonder Woman is more likely the giant box office as DC got her the big screen adventure all to herself. But back in 1940's Wonder Women was just an idea a fraction of imagination in the mind of Harvard's psychologist, Dr. William Moulton Marston. While most may know the story of how Wonder Women came to be this iconic comic book character but no one knows how it was formed and what all Dr. Marston went through to give her life.

The trailer goes about as, William Moulton Marston (Luke Evans) and his wife Elizabeth Holloway Marston (Rebecca Hall) meet Tufts University's senior student Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote) The trio desire to be with more than one partner with the other partner knowing, led to the birth of Wonder Women! And even though it was taboo at that time it still had depictions of bondage and sadomasochism and that eventually lead to a huge scandal.
Professor Marston and the Wonder Women trailer looks quite melodramatic, tackling not only Wonder Women but also bisexuality, kink, Polyamory and feminism in the 1940's. The film was first announced in last fall and produced by Jill Soloway and directed by Angela Robinson.

This seems like the movie we need to watch out for. As Professor Marston and the Wonder Women is on the high road of success similar to that of the Wonder Woman movie at the box office. But keeping in mind it is obviously a very different kind of a story that includes a non-traditional approach to the most beloved DC Comics hero.

The Verdict

Though the origin of Wonder Woman and her earlier stories are not widely celebrated in mainstream circles as Batman and Superman’s, it definitely deserves more attention as it is the incredible true story of what inspired the Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston to birth the iconic Wonder Woman in the 1940's. Even though he was criticized, by the censors for her ‘sexual perversity’ he was keeping a secret that could destroy him. The psychologist muse for the Wonder Woman character was his wife Elizabeth Marston and their love for Olive Byrne. These two women did not follow the rules of the society and continued working with Marston on human behavior research which also resulted in the greatest of the super hero disguise.
