Romeo Akbar Walter Review

John Abraham's latest film is Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW) is an espionage action-thriller which is set against the backdrop of 1971 India-Pakistan war. It is about the many "unsung heroes who operate behind enemy lines to protect their motherland." Director Robbie Grewal (previously made Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar and Aaloo Chaat) is back again after a decade with his latest film RAW co-written written by the director himself, Ishraq Eba and Shreyansh Pandey.

John Abraham plays Romeo, Akbar, and Walter (RAW agent) in the movie where he infiltrates Pakistan army to find important information which will decide the fate of War. Mouni Roy, Jackie Shroff, Sikander Kher, and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi will be seen alongside John Abraham.

The shooting of Romeo Akbar Walter took place in Nepal, Gulmarg, and Srinagar. Pakistan's setting was shot in a set in Gujarat. Initially, Sushant Singh Rajput was cast as lead but because of other commitments he had to leave and was replaced by John Abraham.

"We are on the verge of a war with Pakistan." says the Officer (Shroff) reminding Romeo who is heading off to a training camp for a few months to prepare for a performance that can change ‘India's future.'

Akbar is under constant watch in his undercover mission. He is ultimately caught and finds that there is no way out. Dialogues like "Ek aam insaan ko khaas bana dena, apno ko unki aukaat dikha dena, zindagi ka sahi matlab samjhane ka shukriya." Delivered by John and "Is baar in kaafiro ki Diwali mein dhamaake hum karenge..." says a military officer at Pakistan Army Headquarters, will surely rile up the patriotic fervor in the audience.

John Abraham writes on his Twitter handle: "His dharma was to protect his nation against all evils and enemies."

The Verdict

Based on true events during the 1971 India-Pakistan War, John Abraham starrer Romeo Akbar Walter is set to release on 5th April, 2019. The trailer of espionage action-thriller looks promising—it looks realistic as the director Grewal has paid attention to details of the period.
