The World Cup 2019 has been special in many ways. The boys of Team India are setting examples and new records. But what happened just a day back was really appreciating.

It so happened that Steve Smith was booed by some fans as he was fielding and Hardik Pandya just got dismissed. Virat Kohli who was batting at the other end noticed this and asked his fans to stop booing. He also asked them to clap for him instead. The crowd was seen chanting cheater cheater as they hinted towards Smith.

Kohli did the same thing as Steve walked out to bat during Australia's big chase. Steve and Virat exchanged a shake hand too.

On asking about this at the press conference Virat said "There are so many Indian fans here, I just didn't want them to set a bad example to be honest. He didn't do anything to be booed, in my opinion. He's just playing cricket. I mean he's just standing there and I felt bad because if I was in a position where something had happened with me and I'd apologised and accepted it and I came back and still I get booed, I wouldn't like it either.

"So I just felt for him and told him 'sorry for... on behalf of the crowd'. We've seen that happen in a few earlier games as well. In my opinion that's not acceptable."

Now that's a true gentleman gesture Virat. There's no second thought about your growing popularity and immense fan-following though.
