In a special gesture of solidarity, Indian cricket team pays tribute to the martyrs of Pulwama attack by sporting a camouflage cap instead of the regular blue one to honor the army. Sachin Tendulkar said the gesture touched his heart.

India is currently playing an ODI series against Australia at home. Ahead of the third ODI which was played at JSCA Stadium in Mahendra Singh Dhoni's hometown Ranchi, captain Virat Kohli announced that the team had decided to contribute their match fees from the third ODI to the National Defence Fund. "It's a special cap. This is to pay respect to the martyrs ... and their families."

Indian wicket-keeper batsman and former captain MS Dhoni, who was conferred the rank of honorary Lieutenant Colonel by the Territorial Army several years ago, distributed the camouflage caps to all the team members.

The gesture was appreciated by everyone. India's legendary batsman, the little master Sunil Gavaskar distributed the special caps to the Indian commentary team-Harsha Bhogle, Murali Kartik, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

"To me, today's symbolic act depicting solidarity with the forces is more powerful than the one involving monetary donation by the BCCI," a senior BCCI official told IANS.

"They have been working closely with our apparel partner Nike for the past six months with inputs in the design and proposed implementation of the initiative," a NIKE official said.
