The Supreme Court today ordered 10 states and the government to ensure that Kashmiri people living across the country in different states should not any social objection, boycott, harassment or even attacks, the judgment comes after the Pulwama attack.

The 10 states causing major stir are Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Uttarpradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab and Chattisgarh.

Tariq Adeeb a Supreme Court advocate, filed a petition on Thursday. He also showed controversial tweets by Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy who instigated to boycott "everything Kashmiri".

The bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi ordered the police officers who were also appointed as nodal officers to stop mob lynching happening across the country. They are also made responsible to deal with harassment and assault cases on Kashmiris.

The apex court told the Home Ministry to provide wide publicity of the police officers' contact details so that people who are in need can directly approach them.

"The chief secretaries, the DGPs and the Delhi Police Commissioner are directed to take prompt and necessary action to prevent incidents of threat, assault, a social boycott against Kashmiris and other minorities," said the bench.

"We came to the Supreme Court after Kashmiri students were attacked in universities... We hope the court order will prevent any further incidents," the petitioner said. The apex court will hear the case next week again.
