Amid the growing uncertainty over grand alliance in Maharashtra before upcoming Lok-Sabha elections.

Bhartiya Janta Party's national president Amit Shah and Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday addressed a booth-level meeting of party workers in Latur city. Amit Shah has set the target of winning 40 Lok Sabha Seats of the states 48 seats.

Interacting with party workers, Devendra Fadnavis said, "We (BJP) should now prepare to contest all 48 seats." Shah, who was heading  the meeting, told party workers, "BJP will go on to win 40 (out of the 48 seats) in Maharashtra even without an alliance."

"Yuti hogi toh saathi ko jeetayenge, nahin toh patak denge ," further he added.

Amit Shah earlier on Thursday had reportedly told party ministers that they should get ready to contest the upcoming coming elections without an alliance.

Later in the evening, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in a statement said: "Let there be a fight. Maharashtra will show them (BJP) their place. The arrogant statement by Amit Shah has exposed him and his party. By boasting about winning 40 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, the BJP has announced its alliance with the EVMs. The Sena is ready to take on anybody if attacked. Maharashtra will see to it that you will be routed in the election".
