You have to be extra special to earn a Google Doodle. Well, the Doodle has now given tribute to ‘The Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin and has remembered him on his 57th birthday.

In their note, Google Doodle said, "Irwin and his family dedicated their lives to the preservation and appreciation of earth's wildlife and wild places."

Steve received an eleven-foot python on his sixth birthday which was a gift by his father. He married Terri Raines Raines, in 1992 after feeling in love with her while she was touring Australia. After working in a TV show, Animal Planet hired Steve for a show which gave him worldwide recognition. His show was aired in more than 200 countries.

In the year 2001, Steve worked in Hollywood as well. He featured in the film Dr. DoLittle alongside Eddie Murphy.

Steve's death left everyone shocked. He died on September 4, 2006, while shooting for his documentary Ocean's Deadliest. A stingray injured him and Steve bled to death.

Today his legacy lives on as his family continues to keep up the good work of animal conservation. Steve Irwin Day is celebrated on November 15 in his remembrance which helps to raise funds for the Australia Zoo's Wildlife Warriors Program.

Heroes always stay in hearts, Steve.
