The states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujrat have been facing extreme and unexpected rain and storms and these changes have claimed the lives of over 30 people so far as per reports!

The states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujrat have been facing extreme and unexpected rain and storms and these changes have claimed the lives of over 30 people so far as per reports!


As many as sixteen people have died across the state of Madhya Pradesh in the last two days; while 10 people in Gujarat and 5 in Rajasthan have lost their lives, said the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).


The Hon. Prime Minister of India; Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives. The official Twitter handle of the PMO reads," Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief at the loss of lives due to unseasonal rains and storms in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and various parts of the country. The government is doing its best to provide all possible assistance to those affected. The situation is being monitored closely."


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who lost their lives and a sum of Rs 50,000 each for those injured due to unseasonal rain and storms has also been approved by the Prime Minister Office (PMO).


While the IMD has issued a storm alert for Himachal Pradesh; saying the storm is expected to attain a speed of 50 km per hour, it has also been reported that the sudden changes in the environment have been due to Western Disturbance and winds with moisture from Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal.
