Director B Unnikrishnan's latest outing ‘Villain' with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has not received much appreciation from the critics and the director lashed out at the critics for giving poor reviews to his film. The film is a big-budgeted venture which featured a big star cast including Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Vishal Hansika Motwani and Raashi Khanna. "There is no film that has satisfied everyone. I read many reviews and I found them pathetic. I have done film reviews in the past very seriously. If they don't understand the film, is it our problem?" the director said.

The film was highly promoted by the makers and the trailer had received a very positive response from viewers but it seems that the execution of the main idea of the script remained lackluster as the film couldn't create magic at the box office despite the big budget and a stellar star cast. The director accused the media of deliberately writing poor reviews for the film and even alleged that they had taken money for doing so. He advised the audience to go and watch the film with an open mind and without pre-conceived emotions.

Mohanlal hasn't spoken about this matter and is unlikely to do so given his temperament. The actor is currently busy with a number of projects and working hard to lose weight for his film ‘Odiyan' in which he is set to play the role of a 30-year-old man. Mohanlal is aiming to lose 15 kgs in the span of 40 days.
