Actor Vijay Deverakonda is basking in the success of his last release which was filmed in Mangaluru. Vijay revealed in a recent interview that he developed a warm connection with Mangaluru long before he shot the film there. Recalling his childhood days, Vijay said, "Back in college in Hyderabad, I had masqueraded as a Tuluva from Mangaluru to escape from being made fun of for not speaking fluent Telugu. I spent my growing years at a boarding school in Puttaparthi, where we used to only converse in English." He further said that on returning to Hyderabad his Telugu wasn't really fluent so he used to tell his friends that he was originally from Mangaluru. Vijay faked this story until he finished college as his friends earlier used to make fun of his Telugu.

Vijay got to know about Mangaluru on getting t know about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she is also from the city. The actor later realised that most girls from the city are very beautiful. Vijay revealed that the director of his film has many friends in the city which enabled them to shoot the film at various locations finalised by the director over the course of 10 days. The actor revealed that he often comes to chill out in Bangalore as he has a large group of friends in the city. Producer Rockline Venkatesh is remaking Vijay's film in Kannada and the actor is constantly in touch with him. Vijay feels that the film has managed to impress audiences which is why it is breaking the barrier of language.
