Marvel fans rejoice as we come bearing good news, news that will surely get you excited. Chris Hemsworth is all set to star in the upcoming movie Thor 4 and not only that but also after the impressive work of Taika Waititi in the blockbuster movie Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel Studios have recruited him to write and direct Thor 4.

This also means that Waititi's Warner Bros.' live-action adaptation of the anime Akira which was earlier scheduled to be released on May 21, 2021, will now be put on hold or the foreseeable future as he will be busy with Thor 4. While the outlet also revealed that that actor Chris Hemsworth will also reprise his role as the Asgardian god of thunder.

Waititi not only directed he third film in the Thor franchise, Thor: Ragnarok, he also starred as Korg in Ragnarok. He has also seen in Avengers: Endgame earlier this year. Marvel Studios definitely has a solid reason behind Taika Waititi being recruited for Thor 4. His previous movie Thor: Ragnarok did exceptionally well at the box office.

Waititi's reinvigorated the Asgardian hero in Thor: Ragnarok, by giving him a fresh and funny take, as even in Avengers: Endgame, Thor is seen with a new outlook on life, going through a dark depression, but then getting out of it with a new perspective and feeling of worth. 

Though Thor 4 yet doesn't have a set release date, it wasn't even slated for the next bout of Phase 4 MCU movies. In the meanwhile, Waititi's upcoming movie Jojo Rabbit, which is a dark comedy about a young German boy in World War II whos friend is an imaginary (and ethnically incorrect) version of Adolf Hitler. The film will hit theatres on Oct. 18.
