Ed Sheeran too amongst the other star quit Twitter. The singer in his recent interview with The Sun revealed the actual reason for him leaving Twitter. Ed Sheeran has 19 million followers, He said he’ll keep his account open but will not share anything. It would just have the automatic updates from his Instagram page from now on.

He said "I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it.”

The star sounded totally exasperated by the accusations and in his last personally-authored tweet he wrote, “Never thought I’d have to explain it, but everything I do in my live show is live, it’s a loop station, not a backing track. Please google.”

Sheeran further said that he had "been trying to work out why people dislike me so much” but the simple answer is that he’s the victim of his own success. His album divide, which is his third album, is also the year’s biggest-seller, dominating most the charts and radio around the world.

He mentioned about the backlash he received from Lady Gaga fans after a minor misunderstanding, he said, "Lady Gaga’s fan base read an interview in which they assumed I was talking about her and they all fucking hate." He further explained "And it wasn’t anything to do with that at all. So I think Twitter gets on a massive steam roll of assuming things and then you get in the shit."

Lady Gaga took to Ed's aid on Instagram and even posted an image of them and captioned it saying, "What an incredible talented artist. I LOVE ED. @edsheeran deserves all our love and respect like all humans do. I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and apart of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean." She further continued saying,  "No reason to tear down an artist simply because they are on top. Work harder to be kinder everybody. That should be your first duty to humanity."

Stars including Halsey, Avengers director Joss Whedon, Sue Perkins, Miley Cyrus and Stephen Fry have also all quit the site after suffering abuse. Others, including Selena Gomez and Tom Daley, have also received death threats.
