Robert Pattinson has finally been approved by Warner Bros to star as the new Batman in the trilogy of 'The Batman' films that Matt Reeves will direct later this year. Robert had always been the first choice as the filmmaker liked him but it was the studios that were torn between him and Nicholas Hoult and even had both the actors on tape, after all, come on, this is a cornerstone Warner Bros DC franchise.

After all the meetings went down the final decision was made. Hoult who will also be seen in the latest X-Men: First Class film Dark Phoenix, and no doubt was impressive, but Pattinson is selected as the guy! The film will be helmed by Matt Reeves and will be produced by Dylan Clark, who also produced Reeves' Planet of the Apes films.

Ben Affleck played the role of Batman in the two titles directed by Zack Snyder: 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and 2017's "Justice League." And though mixed reviews were received for both films, it was a disappointment for Warner Bros. who tried to compete with Marvel Studios in the superhero realm. The film will also not carry on the work that Ben Affleck did.

Pattinson got famous after the breakout success of the five-film "Twilight" franchise, where he was seen playing the role of the vampire Edward Cullen alongside Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan. He is also going to be seen in Christopher Nolan's latest film, "Tenet," along with John David Washington and is set to open on July 17, 2020. He was also seen at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of his movie "The Lighthouse."
