MTV has erased the late King of Pop Michael Jackson's name from their prestigious Video Vanguard Award. Micheal Jackson who has been plagued with the allegations of child molestation for decades now had put MTV in a really fixed position. The Network decided to remove his name in the wake of HBO's controversial documentary "Leaving Neverland," a documentary that focuses on sexual abuse allegations against the late pop superstar.

Jackson was one of the stars that helped make TV into a major force in the world of music. And hence it was named as Video Vanguard Award after the performer. The lifetime achievement award is only bestowed upon those who have made a huge impact on the art of music videos. Previous award winners also include David Bowie, Madonna, The Beatles, Beastie Boys, Beyoncé, Rihanna and more.

It is reported by a leading daily, "There's a lot of heated discussion at the network about how to handle the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award this year, and it's getting ugly. There's talk about if they should change the name, or get rid of it altogether. [There's also talk] about who would present it and who would accept it. It's a mess."

Missy Elliot was recently awarded the Video Vanguard award at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, and the network only referred to it as the Video Vanguard Award. But Elliott in her speech referred to it as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. It is now debated that an artist life should be separated from the art. But others claim that an artist's work and personal life are inseparable as a performer's life, public and private, gives their art meaning an context. And if you are still conflicted, remember what Jackson once sang, "You are not alone."
