According to the reports from an anti-piracy firm, MUSO, the seventh season of Game of Thrones has been illegally downloaded or streamed more than 1 billion times. The reports further suggest that the seven episodes of Game of Thrones season seven each averaged 14.7 billion illegal views through September 3. According to the reports, the season premiere of the series was illegally downloaded or illegally streamed for more than 90 million times and that too in the first 72 hours of its release. With these numbers, the Game of Thrones series has also become the most pirated series in the world.

The report regarding the piracy issue was reported by the popular anti-piracy firm, MUSO. Andy Chatterley, the CEO of the firm while talking about the report said that Game of Thrones has become one of the biggest global entertainment phenomena of today and activity across piracy networks has been totally unprecedented. Andy further added that it is no secret that HBO has been plagued by security breaches throughout the latest season, which has seen some episodes leak before broadcast and added to unlicensed activity.

The CEO of the firm further while talking about piracy said that in addition to the scale of piracy when it comes to popular shows, these numbers demonstrate that unlicensed streaming can be a far more significant type of piracy than torrent downloads and at their firm, MUSO, their team look at all types of piracy, not just torrents, and that is why these numbers have been illuminated.
