Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher's fans have urged the Walt Disney Studios to officially recognize her character of Princess Leia from George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy as Disney princess. The actress reprised her role in the 2015 movie 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'. The actress passed away after suffering a heart attack while the actress was on a plane flying from London to Los Angeles. The actress had reportedly finished filming her parts in the upcoming sequel to the film, 'Star Wars: Episode VIII'. A campaign has been established on Change.org by Cody Christensen appealing to Disney's CEO Bob Iger to pay heed to the fans' request. The campaign has got a great response and has been voted with more than 58,000 signatures with a goal of 75,000 signatures. The campaign read, “After the tragic loss of Carrie Fisher, we feel that it is only fitting for Disney to do away with the rule that an official Disney princess must be animated and make Leia a full-fledged princess. This would be a wonderful way to remember Carrie and a welcoming to one of Disney’s new properties that is beloved by millions.” It continued, “What we are asking are that the Walt Disney Corporation hold a full ceremony inducting Leia as the newest Disney princess as well as a special service in memory of Carrie Fisher.” The family of the actress was devastated when Carrie's mother Debbie Reynolds passed away just one day after Fisher. Both have since been given a private funeral.
