Love is slowly but surely becoming more acceptable for people and people have started to be honest about who they love without having to explain why they love them. While most people have the luxury of doing this in the privacy of their own lives, the celebrities on this list have had to do this in the public eye. So here are 13 female celebs who left their husbands or boyfriends for a woman.

Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie was married to her British actor Jonny Lee Miller (her first husband), in 1996. But just a while after their marriage, Jolie starting having a romantic affair with model-actress Jenny Shimizu. The affair overlapped with her marriage, and she parted ways with Miller soon after. According to the New York Daily News, "The women hooked up numerous times during Jolie's marriage. Jolie divorced Miller in 1999 and pursued a relationship with Shimizu, telling Girlfriends magazine that she ‘fell in love' with her co-star ‘the first second.'"

Jolie also said, "I would probably have married Jenny if I hadn't married my [first] husband." The pair moved on since then - Jolie, with the very talented actor and now estranged husband Brad Pitt and Shimizu recently married her socialite wife Michelle Harper, but are still good friends.

Amber Heard: Amber Heard's marriage to Johnny Depp was nothing short of a flaming controversial ride, and according to the rumors Heard's confused sexuality may have played a major role in the disturbing extremely messy and often disturbing breakup. Page Six reported, "Depp and Heard often clashed over her friendship with photographer iO Tillett Wright, who Heard had reportedly moved into the couple's guest house against his wishes-and who was on the phone with Heard with Depp allegedly attacked her in a domestic dispute."

Wait, there's more. In January 2013, Heard dumped Depp for model Marie de Villepin and was still spending cozy time with ex-girlfriend Tasya van Ree while she was still married to Depp.

Portia de Rossi: Actress Portia de Rossi divorced her husband of long, Mel Metcalfe in 1999, after she found out that he had been having an affair with de Rossi's own brother's wife. It was reported that the possible reason that Metcalfe had the extra-marital affair was simply due to the fact that de Rossi was not attracted to him anymore. Following the separation, the star once stated: "By the end of our first year together, despite my desire to be attracted to him, my latent fear of my real sexuality was simmering and about to boil." In 2004, de Rossi was introduced to Ellen DeGeneres at an awards show and the pair began dating. Four years later, in 2008, the pair got married in a private ceremony on her show, and have been together ever since.

Anne Heche: Before Ellen DeGeneres met the love of her life, Portia de Rossi, she was dating actress Anne Heche. Heche had been romantically involved with comedian and actor Steve Martin when she met DeGeneres - and rest is history. Sadly, the couple had an ugly split and Heche has not been linked to another woman since.

Lauren Morelli: The writer of Orange is the New Black, Lauren Morelli, filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Steve Basilone, in 2014. Morelli had dated Basilone for four years before they married, but her feelings for him changed completely when she realized that "she identified with many of the gay women in the show she was writing for." After filing for divorce, Morelli confessed her feelings for Orange is the New Black star Samira Wiley, who plays the character of Poussey Washington on the show. On October 4th, 2016, Morelli publicly announced her engagement to Wiley and they were married on March 25, 2017.

Lindsay Lohan: Lindsay Lohan is infamous for her relationships with numerous actors in Hollywood. Lohan dumped TV personality Callum Best in 2007, and quickly moved on with DJ Samantha Ronson, whom she dated for two years. Speaking about her relationship with Ronson, Lohan once remarked: "I was bold enough to say, 'Yeah, I like a girl. And?' That put her in a situation where she was being attacked every day.
