Someone rightly said "money makes the world go round" and family and business is not always the perfect mix. Even for some celebrities in Hollywood whom we think have it all from fancy cars, glamorous and extravagant parties, successful businesses and being adored and known by millions of fans worldwide, they have been exploited by members of their own families. Here are some celebrities who took a drastic step to protect themselves and their finances even if it meant shutting their families out.

Rihanna: Rihanna sued her father Ronald Fenty and partner, Moses Joktan Perkins as they opened a Fenty Entertainment LLC. They tried to infringe on her trademark by booking concerts without her permission and cashed on millions of her hard earned success. Rihanna in 2017 filed a federal lawsuit for using trademarked brand name without her permission.

Kim, Kourtney, Khloe and Rob Kardashian: The Kardashian siblings took their stepmom Ellen Pearson to court after she retained possession of their father's items which actually rightfully belonged to them. Parson added fuel to the fire after she sold off the diaries and the siblings filed $500,000 lawsuit that they felt no remorse over. But the items were then returned and the settlement details are kept under wrap.

Kobe Bryant: Kobe Bryant parents tried to auction hundreds of his personal things without taking any permission from him. He sued his parents after he got to know that his mother gave permission to a sport's auction leader to sell off the items. They then settled things out and Bryant allowed his parents to sell off six items out of the 100 that were initially up for sale.

Ariel Winter: Ariel Winter did well for herself in ABC's hit series Modern Family. But her family situation was reported to be very problematic. She was made to leave home at 14 and was also suffered physical and emotional abuse. She then took the matter to court and battled it out to to be legally emancipated from her parents' custody. At the age of 17, in 2015 she won the case.

Macaulay Culkin: Macaulay Culkin made name for himself with his breakthrough performance in Home Alone which helped him make an incredibly lucrative Hollywood career. But the money that came with his fame brought him a lot of trouble with his own parents. When he was 15, his parents divorced and his money was the central part of their custody dispute. He filed a petition with the help of his lawyer to emancipated from both of his parents. But his mother won custody of Culkin and was made to stay in her care till he turned 18.

Leighton Meester: Leighton Meester with her feisty yet glamourous role in Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl became a breakout star. But her success came with a hefty price tag. Leighton Meester sued her mother in 2012 as she claimed her mother used the money for plastic surgery and other cosmetic procedures, which she set up to help pay for her younger brother's medical bills. Her mother counter-sued and there has been no news since.
