Just before the worldwide release of the movie IT, the local police in the town Lititz in Pennsylvania, shared a doomy post on Facebook, wherein they notified the residents that a "local prankster" apparently Pennywise, attached red balloons on various sewer grates in the town.

The post read: "A certain movie is coming to theaters in two days, and a local prankster took it upon themselves to promote the movie. we give points for creativity, however, we want the local prankster to know that we were completely terrified as we removed these balloons from the grates and we respectfully request they do not do that again."

In reality, it wasn't Pennywise but a group of teenage girls who were just aiming at terrifying their friends but ended up terrorizing the police.

Clearing up the confusion, one of the girls Peyton Reiff tweeted: "We tried to trick our friends but ended up scaring America!"

On another FB post, the teen said, "Our plan was to tie red balloons to sewer drains around our peers from school houses to geek them out since the new IT movie is coming out this Friday and we knew kids from our school would know about this! When we woke up we saw the Lititz Police had responded to the balloons and were frightened which wasn't our intent but we are glad to see they understood what it meant and got a good laugh out of it!"

These five teens are definitely scarier than clowns.
