Mumbai- The city that never sleeps, the city which is full of dreams, the city whose spirit is just invincible and the city which bore no scars of the previous day.

Just like every year, 3rd of July, 2018 day- Tuesday saw a massive number of incidents in several parts of the city which once again tested the spirit of Mumbaikars.

Listed down are the major incidents which happened in the city and made us wonder whether Aamchi Mumbai is in safe hands.

1. Gokhale Bridge collapsed at Andheri: The morning of 3rd July 2018 began with one news that brought the lifeline of Mumbai- Railways to a standstill. A section of a bridge named Gokhale bridge on SV Road that connects Andheri East and Andheri West crashed during the wee hours at around 7.30 am, ripping off overhead wires which were left on the tracks. This blocked the railway lines and damaged high-tension electric wires.

After the Elphinstone Road tragedy which happened on September 29, 2017, a multi-disciplinary committee was formed to examine the bridges from Churchgate to Virar where all the bridges were declared safe in a statement.

2. BEST double-decker bus crashed into overhead barricade: The accident which took place in Santacruz saw a double-decker bus' getting ripped off when it crashed into an overhead barricade. While there were no injuries recorded, traffic was very much affected by this.

3. Fire at under construction ticket counter: An under-construction ticket counter at Mira Road station caught fire in the afternoon. In another incident, a fire also broke down at Posh Kamala Mills compound.

4. Fire at Virar station: A Dahanu local at Virar station caught fire due to short circuit. A leading daily quoted that "the Western Railway officials said the power supply was restored at 8.45pm and the services to Virar and beyond were resumed."

With all these happenings on just one day and the blame game that is going on, we really wonder that our beloved city is in safe hands or not.

On the other hand, we must say that the spirit of Mumbai and Mumbaikars is truly unbreakable. And while we salute this spirit, we really feel that the emotions of the people should not be taken for granted.
