As heavy rains are already flooding the city, there is one more news that will make the day of a Mumbaikar even more hectic as nine coaches of Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto express derailed at Asangaon. The incident took place at around 6:40 AM in the morning between Vasind and Asangaon stations. The exact reason of the derailment is not yet clear but it is supposed that landslides and heavy rains in the Kasara Ghats may be one of the reasons. A rescue team has reached the site from Kalyan and the work has already been started.

The suburban trains from Nashik and Nagpur are badly affected and are running late than the normal timings. However, no injuries were reported till now. The pictures which are surfacing on the internet currently show passengers making way for themselves from the derailed coaches. The official Twitter handle of the Central Railway tweeted the news of derailment by posting an image.

Meanwhile, this may be the third major rail incident which took place in past few days. Recently Delhi-bound Kaifiyat Express derailed on August 23 in Auriya district wherein 81 people were injured in the accident. Kalinga Utkal Express derailed on August 19 in Muzaffarnagar which took the life of almost 22 people. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu took the moral responsibility of the happenings and offered his resignation letter but Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked him to wait for some time.
