Kangana Ranaut's upcoming movie Mental Hai Kya opposite Rajkummar Rao is said to be renamed after Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) found the current title a bit harsh. Kangana who was seen after the censor board meeting revealed that the board members were 'thrilled' to watch the movie and also reported that the jury cleared the film with minor changes, almost no cut. The minor change is the title.

In an interaction with the paps she said, "Well, there will be a small change in the title of the film because they (CBFC) find it a bit too harsh. We are more than happy to do that. But other than that, there are absolutely no cuts and they were thrilled to see the film." The film also received a U/A certificate while the announcement regarding the new title will be made by Balaji Motion Pictures shortly.

At the beginning of this year, the Indian Psychiatric Society wrote to the censor board, objecting to the title of the film as it seemed to be 'discriminating' and thus demanded a change. In the letter addressed o CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi, the IPS had revealed that the film violates many sections of the Mental Health Care Act, 2017. The Indian Medical Association along with Indian Psychiatric Society also requested the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and PMO to intervene, as phrases such as pagal hai kya, or mental hai kya should not be used since there's a lot of stigmas associated with mental illnesses. They also revealed that it's only now people are gradually coming for treatment for mental illness. They also found title derogatory, demeaning and stigmatising to the mentally ill people.

Later even Kangana's sister and manager Rangoli Chandel tweeted, "On behalf of Kangana, all I want to say is that everyone will be proud of Mental Hai Kya the topic and subject she has chosen will trigger relevant talk and discussions around the stigma."

The movie is slated for releases on July 26, 2019, and will also clash with Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Sharma and Kriti Sanon starrer Arjun Patiala at the box office.
