The news of Karan Johar dabbling with horror has been creating a lot of buzz since last week. Fans had also  taken to social media to guess the title of the horror film, which would be produced by Dharma Productions. And now that the details are out, it is revealed that it is going to be a horror franchise and we will see Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in the first film of the franchise titled, Bhoot-Part One: The Haunted Ship, while it appears that along with Karan, Shashank Khaitan will also be co-producing the film.

The film will be helmed by a debutante director, Bhanu Pratap Singh. Bhoot-Part One is based on a true story of a haunted ship. Bhanu Pratap who is a horror junkie and who had also assisted director Shashank Khaitan on Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania has penned the script of the film. Shashank Khaitan revealed how Karan was in love with the script and the film's concept immediately as it was based on a true happening. The film will hit theatres by 15 November 2019.

Talking about the script and Karan, Shashank said, "Karan loved it. Bhoot - Part One: The Haunted Ship is based on a true incident that took place in Bombay. The shooting is complete. The post-production is underway and the film will open in cinemas on November 15 this year." He also revealed how they decided to make the movie as real as possible and decided to also use VFX. He revealed that they decided to create a series and are looking to make more authentic films and even horror comedies. He also stated that he and Bhanu have discussed a few ideas as now is an exciting time to take the franchise ahead.

Another thing that you might have realised is the film's title is similar to Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar's 2003 film. It is also revealed that Ram Gopal Verma graciously gave away the title of the film. An Entertainment portal revealed that Vicky will be seen playing the lead role in the film, while Bhumi will be seen in an interesting cameo.
