Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani is the biggest blockbuster of 2019 and which is also a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Deverakonda. The story revolves around a doctor who has anger management issues. Though, both Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy were bashed for being misogynistic, but fans seemed to love the movie and even trolled others who made fun of Shahid's film including Taapsee Pannu. Taapsee who recently took a sly dig at the film Kabir Singh got involved in a war of words with a user on social media.

Taapsee in a recent interview spoke about how Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy are not the only films that are misogynistic, she revealed how there are various other films in the same league and has an issue with how the film glorifies such flawed characters. Taapsse also revealed how people had a problem with character Rumi in Manmarziyaan, but praised Kabir Singh, she pointed out how this is the double standard of the society.

Taapsee said, "Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy are not the only films glorifying misogyny, there are several others too but not to this extent. That is one of the reasons why I do the kind of films I do, there should be a counter-narrative too. I know I'll never be able to match up to the numbers of this film but that won't deter me. We are on the cusp of a change and I am not going to give up now. The problem is not showing flawed characters... The problem is when you glorify them and make what they are doing seem heroic. This character is so revered that whatever he does is not just accepted, it is celebrated. The same misogynist people who didn't see a problem with Kabir booed Rumi. We aren't oblivious to the double standards of our society."

On the work front, Taapsee has two big films lined up, Mission Mangal being the recent one and Saand Ki Aankh comes later. In Mission Mangal, she will be seen essaying the role of a scientist assisting in launching ISRO's mission to Mars. Mission Mangal also stars Vidya Balan, Akshay Kumar, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen, Sonakshi Sinha and Sharman Joshi. Helmed by Jagan Shakti, and produced by R Balki and Akshay Kumar, the film is set for release on August 15, 2019.
