On July 8, The Supreme Court denied entertaining a plea seeking cancellation of the certificate issued by Central Board of Film Certification to Ayushman Khurana starrer film, Article 15. The petitioner was asked to approach the appropriate authority with their grievances. The bench of justices S A Bobde and B R Gavai told the counsel that had appeared for the hearing said, "You go to the appropriate authority under the act."

Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15 that was released on June 28, The petitioner 'Brahman Samaj of India' approached the top court to seek cancellation of the certificate that was issued to the movie and alleged that the objectionable dialogues were spreading rumours and caste hatred in society. The petitioner claimed that the filmmaker cannot use the title "Article 15" for commercial gains. It was also stated that CBFC may have mistaken in issuing a certificate as they didn't consider the provisions of Emblems and Names.

The also argued whether the film will cause severe damage to public perception about "Article 15" in the constitution. The petitioner also claimed that film may also lead to various other films being made and named on the other articles in our constitution. And though the council withdrew the petition, but gave the petitioner the liberty to approach the concerned authority.

Even with all this going on, Ayushmann Khurrana's movie 'Article 15,' on the 10th day is running steady at the box office. The film has already raked in Rs 40 crore so far and is inching closer to the Rs 50 crore mark. Not only has the box office collection been incredible so far, but it has also been received well by the audience. Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana, the film also stars Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa in significant roles.
