Actress Sonakshi Sinha has always spoken in favour of having equal pay for male and female actors in the film industry. She first spoke about it when her film Akira was about to release and continues to stand by her statement. "It is far from equalising, but the talk on pay disparity has gone (in) a positive direction. It is much better now. Pay disparity between men and women- has existed for years; so it will not change overnight. It is a constant process," she said. Sonakshi further said that the pay gap exists in other fields as well including sports. Sonakshi believes that both men and women put in equal effort towards their work, so there shouldn't be gender bias in pay.

The actress' latest release 'Ittefaq' is currently in theatres. She has shared screen space with Akshaye Khanna and Sidharth Malhotra in the film which is a mystery thriller. The makers had decided a completely different promotional strategy for the film and the lead cast did not do any interviews or promote the film at any event and kept it extremely low-key. This change in strategy was a welcome change for Sonakshi as she considers promotional activities tougher than acting in the film. The actress revealed her personal preference while deciding about watching a film and said that if she likes the trailer she watches it, irrespective of the cast. Sonakshi has been experimenting with her script choices by doing films like Akira, Noor and Ittefaq in the last few years.
