Director Vikramaditya Motwane is coming up with his directorial venture ‘Trapped' starring actor Rajkummar Rao. The director has also revealed his plans after ‘Trapped', which include a movie with Harshvardhan Kapoor and making a series for Netflix. Vikramaditya is returning after 4 long years, his last venture being ‘Lootera' starring Ranveer Singh. The director talked to a leading daily about his upcoming film and his gap period. Vikramaditya was asked about his absence and said, "I spent the period trying to make movies. My upcoming directorial venture Bhavesh Joshi has two lives as it stopped and restarted. I was also busy with the production of movies under Phantom FIlms."

As the story of Trapped revolves around a man stuck in a high rise building, it was made quickly. With ‘Trapped' the director is trying to reach a wider audience as the character and the story is relatable. The situation in the film is such that it may happen to anyone as people usually have a fear of being trapped. The director also recalled how he cast Rajkummar in the film. Talks between Vikramaaditya and Rajkummar were on since July 2015 but things didn't work out then. Then later the director asked the actor to spare 20 days for him and he made it in that time. Rajkummar worked very hard for his role and survived only on carrots and coffee as he had to lost weight as the story progressed. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on March 17.
