SC refuses to stay Vivek Oberoi's PM Narendra Modi biopic

“We have not seen the film. We do not know the contents of the film. How can we order anything without knowing what we are ordering about?” Chief Justice Gogoi asked senior advocate A.M. Singhvi, who represents Mr Panwar, who filed the PIL against restraining the film’s release.

The Supreme Court of India has rejected a plea which sought to postpone the release of Omung Kumar's PM Narendra Modi, a biopic on the Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi which will be essayed by Vivek Oberoi.

The court further ruled that it was up to the Election Commission (EC) to decide if the film violated the model code of conduct or not.

Hailing the court's ruling; the films lead actor, Vivek Oberoi too to his Twitter account and wrote," With all your blessings, support and love, today we have won in the Honorable Supreme Court! A humble thank you to all of you and to the Indian juidiciary for upholding our faith in democracy! Thursday, 11th April. Jai Hind. #PMNarendraModiWins."

"We have not seen the film. We do not know the contents of the film. How can we order anything without knowing what we are ordering about?" Chief Justice Gogoi asked senior advocate A.M. Singhvi, who represents Mr Panwar, who filed the PIL against restraining the film's release.

Further speaking about the film; Vivek said," It is just a coincidence that the film is releasing ahead of the election. It is not a propaganda film. I am an individual who has a credible body of work over the last 18 years, more than 45 films and more than 26-27 awards. So I stand my ground there. I don't need to make him appear as a hero. He is a hero to billions of people across the world."

Well, do you think the film can qualify as a propaganda film!
