Sanjay Leela Bhansali's remake of Baiju Bawra to feature Shahrukh and Salman Khan?

The 1952 classic of Baiju Bawra, was directed by Vijay Bhatt, and followed the fictional story of dhrupad musician Baiju who famously challenged Akbar’s legendary court musician Tansen into a musical duel to avenge his father’s death.

One of Bollywood's most loved director; Sanjay Leela Bhansali ringed in his birthday this year by making an official announcement of reuniting with Salman Khan for a romantic film 19 years after their iconic collaboration in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.


Ever since then he had been making headlines for the films that he will be making in the near future. And now if certain reports are to be believed; Sanjay Leela Bhansali is planning to remake the1952 classic 'Baiju Bawra'; starring the legendary actress Meena Kumari and Vijay Bhushan.


And what's more, is that ‘Ram Leela' director is planning to bring on board two of Bollywood's biggest stars in one frame; Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan. While there is no official announcement from the maker on this project yet, reports suggest that Bhansali has gone ahead and registered as many as three titles; Baijnath, Baiju, and Baiju Tansen, which are enough proof to a remake in the making!


Well; Bhansali certainly does seem to have a very bus chedule with as many as 3 films in the pipeline. Priyanka Chopra Jonas too recenetly revelaed that she is in talks with the filmmaker for a woman centric film.


And if the industry grapevine is anything to go by; the film with Piggy Chops is based on the life of Gangubai Kothewali, one of the most dreaded pimps of Kamathipura, Mumbai's red light area. And the project is tentatively titled Heera Mandi.
Well, with such an interesting lineup of films the filmmaker sure has all moviegoers intrigued to wait for the final product of these films in the making. 


On the professional front Bhansali's last project ‘Padmavat' garnered immense love and appreciation by both the critics and audiences for the extraordinary performances by the cast of Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in the film. The film however was the centre of many blazing controversies before its release, and quite literally blazing controversies that left the sets and costumes of the film burned down by Rajput outfits Karni Sena.
