Hina Khan who recently attended the Cannes Film Festival 2019, for the screening of her short film Lines, which is based on Kargil war, made her debut on the Cannes red carpet as she attended the screening of Brazilian drama film Bacurau. Hina totally owned the red carpet dressed in an embellished gown by Ziad Nakad. And though she looked stunning at the international film festival, Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai, mocked her! He took to his Instagram and shared a picture of the gorgeous Hina Khan and captioned it saying, "Cannes has suddenly become chandivali studios kya?" Many TV stars expressed their unhappiness and found the comments distasteful.

Even Salman Khan came to her support, at his song launch of Zinda, from his upcoming movie Bharat, he was asked about the controversy. At first, he stated he was not aware of it, but when informed about the incident, he sarcastically said, That's very responsible that editor to make a comment like that." He further stated, "Very thoughtful of the editor to make a comment like that on Hina. I don't understand kya kehna chah rahe the. Cannes is Chandivali or has Chandivali has gone to Cannes?"

Even Hina Khan took to her Instagram and reacted on the Jitesh Pillai's comment by saying, "I was persistent, I m constant n I will b efficient again n again. Don't know where I belong, don't know if I have to, as d Place don't define me! Bcause as always I will work my a** off n I will make my own PLACE. My promise, proud outsider from my Chandiwali studios."

After all the clatter and commotion caused, the magazine editor took to his Instagram and apologised saying "My apologies to Hina Khan. My INSTAA CAPTION HAS BEEN GROSSLY MISCONSTRUCTED. I would never belittle an artiste. Those who know me well enough will agree that I'm inclusive and always appreciative of talent. My remark was meant to suggest that Cannes has become Bollywood centric. Studios like Chandivali Etc are the very studios that I've spent my time rookie reporter. I would never run down my wonder years spent in these studios. My sincere apologies to Hina Khan again. I wish you continued success." Hina Khan too accepted the Filmfare editor's apology and wrote, "Dear Jitesh Pillai, Thank you for acknowledging it..and thank you for your good wishes..wish you the same. Regards, Hina Khan."
