Rakesh Roshan diagnosed with throat cancer reveals son Hrithik Roshan

The Roshan Sr. has been diagnosed with "squamous cell carcinoma of the throat" (throat cancer) at the age of 69. The ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ director will be undergoing surgery today.

Actor-director, Rakesh Roshan who is known to have directed films like Koyla, Karan Arjun and the likes made his directorial debut with the film Khudgarz in 1987 and his acting debut in the 1970 film Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani and followed it up with films like Buniyaad and Khoobsurat.


But alas, the Roshan Sr. has been diagnosed with "squamous cell carcinoma of the throat" (throat cancer) at the age of 69. The ‘Koi Mil Gaya' director will be undergoing surgery today. 


The dreaded news was broken out by the directors son; the very talented Hrithik Roshan on his Instagram page. The actor shared an image of his along with his father in the gym and captioned it with," Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldn't miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him. Love you Dad."


Rakesh Roshan had launched his son, Hrithik alongside Ameesha Patel, in the superhit 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai'.


 On the work front Rakesh Roshan had produced ‘Kaabil' starring Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam and will next be helming the 4th installment to the superhit franchise of ‘Krrish' again with his son. As per industry rumors Priyanka Chopra or Katrina Kaif are the leading ladies in contention to play the female lead opposite the ‘Dhoom 2' actor.


Meanwhile, Hrithik is all geared up for the release of his next film Super 30 based on the real life of ace mathematician Anand Kumar.
