Depiction of unusual subject on the screen heavily inclines on various elements that add dimension to the plotline. With the announcement of Jasmine, a film based on surrogate mother, curiosity about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's involvement in the project started doing the rounds.

As the actress had confirmed her discussions about the film with writers Siddharth-Garima for Jasmine, things looked brighter when Aishwarya admitted to have liked the concept.

She had said to a leading daily, "Our talks had stopped around February this year, but now, I will take the discussion further. Right now, I don't know whether I'm doing it or not. I liked the concept, but asked them to make a few changes to the script."

Now, the latest reports suggest that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has chosen to opt out of the project. The source said to a leading daily, "Aishwarya has turned down Jasmine. There were several loopholes in the script. Although Siddharth and Garima's basic idea was strong, there were many problems with the story, which the actress had reportedly pointed out to the writer duo. After the corrections, they approached her with a fresh script, but Ash still felt she couldn't relate to it. So, she politely informed the team that she won't be able to do the film anymore."

Furthermore, reports state that Jasmine has been shelved. Shree Narayan Singh, who was producing the project, has too opted out from the film. About the same, Shree Narayan Singh said, "The film should have gone on floors by now. But Siddharth and Garima, too, had other commitments to complete. So, I will not be able to tell you when it will start. It's currently on hold."
