Filmmaker Mudassar Aziz whose last film ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’ was in limelight for its fresh treatment of story has decided to make a sequel to the film, which starred Abhay Deol, Jimmy Shergill, and Diana Penty. Aziz believes the overwhelming response he received for the film was a major factor in motivating him to write a sequel. He also said that the audience’s reaction was very encouraging and he wasn’t thinking of a sequel while making the film. “I was working on another story when the idea of a sequel to “Happy..” struck me in September. I discussed it with Rai saab who suggested I work on it and see what comes out. By October-end, I had a story which he really liked,” Aziz said. The writer-director also mentioned that the film’s essence will remain the same but they are yet to decide the place where Diana’s character will elope to this time. Aziz had written an open letter to the Censor Board in Pakistan which had banned the film in the country when it released in August last year. He asked for a valid reason for banning the film and mentioned that he has always considered Pakistan a wonderful place to visit. ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’ revolved around the story of a girl who elopes from an arranged marriage and gets stuck in Pakistan. The film received mixed reviews from critics and was an average affair at the box office. Aziz’s first film was ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ which released in 2010.
