Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi; which marks Kangana Ranaut's debut as a director is setting the cash registers ringing with its phenomenal success at the box office. However; another thing that rings in our ears with the film's success is the never-ending row of controversies around the film and most specifically Ranaut!

Be the film's first director Krish accusing Kangana of re-directing 70 percent of the film or Mishti Chakravarty, who plays Kashibai in the film, blasting Kangana for chopping her role or Sonu Sood walking out of the film citing Kangana's constant interference in his acting process, Kangana has been lambasted from every corner.

However; now actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, who stepped into the shoes of Sonu Sood, has come to the rescue of the ‘Fashion' actress.

In an interview to a leading daily; Zeeshan, who was last seen in Shahrukh Khan's ‘ZERO', was quoted saying," I shot for only six days. Kangana had clearly told me what my role would be, so I knew exactly what to expect. An actor does feel bad when his/her role is chopped, but the director has his reasons. In some of my earlier films, 90 percent of my roles have been edited. It hurts because of the time and energy you give to the project."

He further added," She called me in the morning, and in the evening, I was already shooting at ND Studios. When I got on board, I was told that since Sonu Sood had grown a beard for Simmba, the look did not go with the character. Plus, there were date issues. Krish too had opted out as he was directing the NTR biopic."

While other actors have been crying foul, that their roles have been chopped, Zeeshan further said that Kangana was a thorough professional," Things were under control. There was no arm-twisting or domination from her end."

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub took on the character of Sadashivrao Bhau in the war drama that released on the 25th of January. While Kangana on the other had steered away from the row for a while and went off skiing into Swiss Alps!
