Filmmakers often root for remakes owing to its reliability in the market. The success of the original fosters the development of the remake, however, its engagement with a different audience with repackaged story portrayed by different actors don't remain the same as compared to the original. This defines the ultimate outcome of the commercial viability of the remakes.

According to the reports, Airlift and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha producer Vikram Malhotra is all set to remake a Malayalam crime-drama Angamaly Diaries in Hindi, which will roll out next year.

Confirming about the same, Vikram said to a leading tabloid, "I am delighted with the opportunity of taking this gem of a film to the Hindi audience, in their language. It's a true genre-breaker which reaches out and grabs you by the collar, with a strong word-of-mouth even among non-Malayalis. Angamaly Diaries is a masterclass in filmmaking as it had 86 debutants, a disruptive narrative and a 11-minute one-take climax."

Talking about the casting of the movie, the producer said, "But we may repeat a few names from the original. We are in the process of finalising the director first after which we will start scouting for actors. The lead role can be played by either an established name or a newcomer but the actor will have to do a lot of prep with the main focus on his look."

The producer has roped in director Lijo Jose Pellissery as the creative consultant for the remake. Elated about joining the team, the director said, "I couldn't be happier that Vikram, who is known to marry socially relevant cinema with entertainment, will adapt it in Hindi. This story now has the opportunity to transcend to a larger audience."
