Seems like the Telugu industry is a top spot for Bollywood producers who are looking for a great story! After Arjun Reddy, Vijay Deverakonda's latest film Dear Comrade will be officially remade! Karan Johar brought the remake rights of the film even before the film hit theatres and he will co-produce the film with Bharat Kamma.

And after Kabir Singh became the year's biggest blockbuster it was reported that many producers were eyeing Dear Comrade. It is reported by a leading daily that Bhushan Kumar - Murad Khetani and Sajid Nadiadwala - Vijay Galani also wanted to purchase the remake rights of Dear Comrade. But Karan Johar outbid them and got the remake rights for a reported six crore. Karan also announced about his newest purchase on social media as he tweeted, "Stunning and powerful love story! With top notch performances and exceptional music... Announcing that @DharmaMovies to remake this beautiful film."

But Arjun Reddy which was actually a hit in the South, Dear Comrade didn't make big at the box-office. Dear Comrade opened up with Rs 11 crore on the first day from the South Indian states, but there was a dip in the collection on the second day as it made only Rs 3 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Sreedhar Pillai, a trade analyst, talking about Dear Comrade box-office performance said, "The film opened well at the box-office, but hasn't lived up to the expectations." And though this has got trade pundits worried about the financial viability of the project, a source close to Dharma Productions told a leading daily, "Dear Comrade has fared as per the estimation of Karan's company. They will surely be making the Hindi adaptation as planned."
