Fans of the satire comedy; Hindi Medium can rejoice as the makers have officially announced a sequel to the film. While Irrfan Khan will be playing the male lead; the female lead of the film is yet to be finalized. The sequel; that was earlier titled Hindi Medium 2; will now be titled, English Medium.

A certain source has been quoted by a leading daily saying," Hindi Medium 2 was just a working title. So once the script was locked, the makers decided to keep the title according to the subject. The film now has a time and a country leap, and there will be people of other ethnicities as well. Since the film is now based in the US, it will duly be called English Medium."

The sequel will have a time leap, and the Irrfan's daughter in the first installment will be shown all grown up and will jet off to the US for further studies. And the central plot to the sequel will not just be Hindi but will also focus on the difficulties faced by people of other ethnicities as well, who travel to places where English is the primary mode of communication for not just education but every sphere of life.

The source further revealed," The film will not just address the issues of Hindi medium students in the US but also those of the students from other countries who face trouble fitting into a system where English is the primary spoken language. Keeping that in mind, director Saket Chaudhary, who helmed the first installment, has been replaced by Homi Adajania who has directed films such as like Being Cyrus, Finding Fanny, and Cocktail."

Hindi Medium; featuring Irrfan Khan, Saba Qmara and Deepak Dobriyal, revolved around a couples struggle to get their daughter enrolled in one of the best English speaking schools of their vicinity. while the film catapulted into an overnight success, Irrfan was diagnosed with a deadly neuroendocrine tumor; which compelled the actor to leave for London for the treatment.

Irrfan; however, was recently spotted back in the county and seems to be recovering well and, will soon resume his shooting schedules for the film!
