Vicky Kaushal has proved to be a versatile actor! And after Raazi, he has now reunited with Meghna Gulzar for a film on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and he will be seen playing the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

Vicky shared his look from the film, on Manekshaw's anniversary, on his social media, and wrote, "I feel honoured, emotional and proud of getting a chance to unfold the journey of this fearless patriot, the swashbuckling general, the first Field Marshal of India- SAM MANEKSHAW. Remembering him on his death anniversary today and embracing the new beginnings with @meghnagulzar and #RonnieScrewvala."

Meghna Gulzar who finished filming Chhapaak with Deepika Padukone, in her interview, revealed how she shared the story of Sam Manekshaw with Vicky Kaushal, while they were filing for Raazi. She said, "We wanted to finish the edit on the draft first before reaching out to an actor. One day, I just called up Vicky, who happened to be nearby and invited him over for a cold coffee. We had a conversation about Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He was about to fly to the US and said that he doesn't want to read the script and would just do the film. But I insisted that he read it and call me."

Talking about the film, Vicky said that though he couldn't witness the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw's achievements, his parents did tell him about Manekshaw's amazing leadership quality and how he was a fearless patriot. He said that he heard about the Marshal the first time in the context of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Talking about his collaboration with Meghna Gulzar he revealed that it gave him the feeling of home. He also revealed that he has the utmost respect and love for who they are as filmmakers and people.

Meghna also revealed that they will begin shooting in 2021, as that will give them sufficient prep time as they have the Partition, accession of Kashmir and the 1971 Indo-Pak war to cover in the narrative.
