Period dramas are the flavour of every season. With the success of period dramas in Bollywood, every filmmaker is minting the idea to put forth history on the big screen like never before. However, translating the real incidents in the reel by not perturbing the historical veracity is significantly challenging for the filmmakers.

After working in disparate genre films, Saif Ali Khan is all set to debut in a period film titled Taanaji- The Unsung Warrior. The actor will be reuniting with his Omkara co star Ajay Devgn in the film and will be playing an antagonist in the period drama.

About the same, Saif Ali Khan revealed to a leading tabloid, "I respect Ajay and like the way, he looks at life. I'm happy to be a part of this huge historical which will be a screen extravaganza, a post- Baahubali kind of experience in 3D. Ajay loves cinema, is a great producer, and this is the right film to make today as it highlights patriotism and heroism. Kids will love it, so will the rest of the country."

On being prodded further about his character in the film, Saif added, "Let's just call him an anti-hero. It's a cool part and I've already started shooting."

Neither Ajay Devgn nor Saif Ali Khan has divulged any further details of the film. Hopefully, more details of the film will be unveiled as the film progresses.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is playing the title role in the film and had unveiled the poster on his official social media account by posting, "He fought for his People, his Soil & his King Chhatrapati Shivaji. The unsung warrior of glorious Indian history, Subedar Taanaji Malusare."
